Island Global Yachting (IGY) say the first phase of a multi-million dollar renovation program is underway at Maximo Marina – St. Petersburg, Florida. The renovation will also feature the opening of The Getaway Maximo Restaurant this fall, which will be the largest restaurant opening in south St. Petersburg in more than a decade.
Maximo Marina’s transformation project builds on the momentum of St. Petersburg’s expansive revitalization of the city’s Skyway Marina District. In addition to The Gateway Maximo Restaurant, the marina has already begun construction on 185 covered wet slips for vessels up to 40ft (12.2m), with 35 of those wet slips to be converted to covered boat lifts for boats up to 36ft (11m) – a first in marina design for Florida. Once all phases of construction are complete, Maximo Marina will have the ability to welcome more than 200 vessels in wet slips, with approximately 65% of them covered. The facility will also be able to accommodate an additional 88 vessels within inside storage racks and 200 vessels in outside storage racks.

Situated in the heart of the St. Petersburg-Tampa area, the location offers an array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Guests can enjoy two of the top 10 beaches in the United States as stated by TripAdvisor, and popular attractions such as Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and the world-renown Dali Museum, which houses the largest collection of Salvador Dali art in the Western hemisphere. Maximo Marina will be the Skyway Marina District’s hotspot for weekend boat owners, captains, and families.
The renovation program is expected to be completed in summer 2018, with portions of the marina available for occupancy this summer. More information about new slip availability will be announced in the coming months.
