The 30th Grand Pavois Yachting Exhibition – one of the world’s
largest boat shows – took place recently in
La Rochelle, France,
from 7 to 12 September. Since the OECS was ‘Guest of Honour’, a
strong delegation made the trip east, with representatives from Anguilla,
Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, BVI,
Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia and Montserrat.

According to Suzanne Mason of Grenada Tourism, “the OECS Pavilion
was decorated in Caribbean style with
ginger-bread houses, corrugated roofs and a large variety of tropical plants
and flowers.”

Grenada
was represented by Marketing & Development Officer Suzanne mason, Jacqui
Pascal from Horizon Yacht Charters and Richard Szyjan
from Turbulence Sails. On display in the
Grenada booth were Nutmegs,
Cinnamon, Cloves and Bay Leaves as well as a short-knee carnival costume whose
French origin delighted the local visitors.

Some 5,000 visitors visited
Grenada’s booth over the six
days, enjoying a promotional DVD displaying destination footage from Horizon
Yacht Charters. Many had previously visited the Spice Isle and were anxious to
check on the post-Ivan status of the island.

“Many visitors commented on
Grenada’s magnificent sailing
waters and the natural and historical beauty of the island,” reports
