Competitors for the 28th Annual Treasure Cay Billfish Tournament (TCBT) can save up to $300 with the first-ever offer of a Bahamas Cruising Permit rebate. Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina in Abaco, Bahamas will host the competition on June 12-17, 2011. The rebate can be redeemed through the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. An additional incentive has been offered for early entry registrations offering 3 day’s dockage or 3 night’s hotel room for signups prior to April 1, 2011.

Registration is open for the 2011 TCBT, which follows a year where the event was championed by lady angler Lisa Flack of Team Kilowett, Lighthouse Point, FL.

The TCBT modified release tournament offers four days of fishing, social parties, dinners and fun competitions. The guaranteed cash payout ranges from $10,000 for a minimum of ten boats and up to $50,000 for participation of 50 boats.

Open to the public, the tournament format consists of multiple awards for billfish, plus awards for tuna, dolphin and wahoo. The tournament is open to center console boats over 30 feet as well as sportfishing boats. Release point standings are verified by the participant’s own digital and/or video camera with an image that can verify the time and date the photo was taken.

Registration for up to six team members, including boat entry, cash prize eligibility, dinners, cocktail parties, team goody bag with t-shirts & hats and room discounts is only $2,950 per team and can be made online at www.treasurecayfishing.com .

For the fun fish division of tuna, dolphin and wahoo there is an optional payout that has rivaled top prizes of U.S. based tournaments. In addition to the cash prizes, winners receive beautiful trophies and the top team is honored on a statuesque Perpetual Trophy showcased in the resort’s Spinnaker Restaurant, one of the largest air conditioned out-island restaurant facilities available for events. Awards are also presented to Top Lady and Junior Anglers.

A sanctioned event of the World Billfish Series (WBS), TCBT offers its top angler an invitation to attend the WBS Grand Championships to compete for the title of World Champion of Billfishing. More information about the WBS is at www.worldbillfishseries.com. The top team will also qualify for the IGFA Offshore World Championship

In addition to its great food, camaraderie and family social events, the TCBT also raises funds for the children of the Treasure Cay Primary School. An average of 250 anglers and guests attend from many states in the U.S. as well as other countries. Details, photos and the 2010 tournament magazine are available on www.treasurecayfishing.com. Information can also be found on Treasure Cay’s Facebook Fan page. Live scoring provided by www.catchstat.com.
