Cummins MerCruiser Diesel Marine’s ReCon®
line of engines
was the best-kept secret in marine propulsion for years. Now, you can safely say the
secret’s out: CMD ReCon isn’t just the leader of the remanufactured/rebuild market, it
helps make CMD one of the world’s best-selling brands of marine diesels.

In 2011, according to industry data, approximately one out of every five marine diesels
from 200 to 1,000 hp sold in the U.S. and Canada was a CMD ReCon, even though
they are only used to repower existing boats. The product line has also caught on
internationally as customers in Europe, Latin America and Australia have purchased
more than 100 ReCon engines this year. When you add in CMD’s award-winning new
engines sold into repower applications, Cummins MerCruiser has more than half of the
North American repower market.

The ReCon product offering includes about 30 different models, from the venerable B
Series and C Series mechanical engines, to the QSB, QSC and QSM Quantum Series
models. Most of the mechanical models are IMO Tier I Certified and the Quantum
engines are EPA Tier 2 compliant, so there’s a ReCon solution for almost any boat,
regardless of what brand of engine is in it today.

CMD ReCon engines are typically less expensive than competitive premium new engine
options, but they are often available in days instead of months. They also have a twoyear or 2,000-hour warranty that is backed by CMD’s global service network, which is
vastly superior protection than is offered by any “job shop” rebuilder.

CMD ReCon engines are remanufactured in a dedicated Cummins facility in San Luis
Potosi, Mexico. There, CMD and Cummins cores are disassembled down to the last nut
and bolt. All components are inspected, cleaned, remachined and meticulously
measured. The ones that meet uncompromising factory tolerances are combined with
new bearings, seals, gaskets, rings and other critical wear parts – all genuine, firstquality CMD parts, of course – and assembled into CMD ReCon engines. Every finished
unit is hot tested before being painted, inspected and shipped to CMD distributors and
dealers around the globe.

CMD ReCon engines will be featured in the combined Cummins Marine – CMD booth at
the International WorkBoat Show, November 30 through December 2, 2011 in New
Orleans, La. For a complete list of CMD ReCon engine models or to get more details on
