Christensen Shipyards accepts prestigious award for Best Motor Yacht Interior on June 26, 2008 in Monaco

Principality of Monaco –The M/Y Lady Joy takes award for the Best Motor Yacht Interior for exhibiting unparalleled creativity and imagination. Christensen Shipyards accepted the award presented at the gala event.

“On behalf of everyone at Christensen Shipyards we want to congratulate Denise Rich in receiving this highly coveted award from Showboats International Magazine for the Lady Joy. It is truly an honor to build such a spectacular yacht, while having so much fun doing so. Many laughs were shared along the way and we will continually cherish that special experience which cannot be described in any other way but to say synonymously it was a joy!” said Joe Foggia, president of Christensen Shipyards and added “Thank you very much for choosing Christensen Shipyards to build this award winning ship”

The Lady Joy represents a milestone for Christensen, known throughout the yachting industry as leader in creating its custom series yachts. The custom design highlights the unique personality of the owner, singer/songwriter Denise Rich, and was brought about by the extraordinary talents of Portland, Oregon based interior design firm Carol Williamson and Associates and the Christensen engineering team.

“I am so thrilled the Lady Joy won for best interior!  I’ve spent the last year working with Tonya Lance of Carol Williamson, to make Lady Joy look and feel like a beautiful home and I am so proud that all our hard work is being recognized.” said Denise Rich upon winning the award.

M/Y Lady Joy features state of the art and modern touches throughout her three levels. When the yacht was being built, the owner had the VIP cabin reconfigured into 2 separate areas, making a total of 6 cabins with ensuite bathrooms plus a nanny cabin for guest with children.  The ship also features 3 large decks throughout the vessel to entertain, dine and relax while her staff takes care of your every need. Sun pads were built into the forward of the Portuguese bridge, and sun beds fill the entire aft area of the deck.

One of the distinguising features of the composite hulled Lady Joy is the spacious sky lounge in which Rich created her own oceangoing sound studio, complete with a sunken bar, club like furnishings and a state of the art sound system with full keyboard, perfect for entertaining intimate groups while aboard the boat.

The interior of the ship is unique in that it also serves as a personal art gallery for Rich, providing a focus for each room, and showcasing each of the museum quality showpieces from the likes of artists such as Paul McCartney, Peter Max, Keith Tyson and Milton Avery.

The luxury yacht’s main deck is made up of the master cabin with walk in robes, his and her bathrooms and a private office. The main deck also has a powder room, formal dining room and a salon, all with large windows that let in plenty of natural light and offer excellent views from the seating area. The outdoor dining area on the aft deck can be used to host large dinner parties and with side tables can accommodate up to 50 guests in comfort. Providing semi privacy between the salon and the dining area is a center credenza which conceals twin tv screens. Lady Joy’s main salon is spacious with plush seating and detailed with high gloss American Cherry joinery, creating a sense of warmth and intimacy throughout the interior areas. Lady Joy is a world cruiser fully certified to ABSXA1-AMS, Cayman Island MCA Unlimited Cruising and Classified MI (marshall islands code of safe practice for large yachts).
