Entries for the 2011 Cape Air Caribbean Ocean Racing Circuit (C.O.R.C.) doubled at the second leg, the Puerto Rico Heineken International Regatta, raced out of Palmas del Mar Yacht Club & Marina, March 18-20. Brisk winds made for keen competition for regatta sailors and CORC entrants alike.

Cape Air C.O.R.C. standings by class at the conclusion of the Puerto Rico Heineken International Regatta saw Puerto Rico’s Jaime Torres on his Beneteau First 40, Smile and Wave, continue his lead the Spinnaker Racing A class, with St. Maarten’s Frits Bus on his Melges 24, Coors Light, second, and Puerto Rico’s Luis Juarbe’s Henderson 30, Soca, third.

In Spinnaker Racing B, St. Thomas’ Paul Davis’ J/27, Magnificent 7, continues his lead.

Puerto Rico’s Jonathon Lipuscek’s J/105, Dark Star, is a new entry and jumps to the top of the Racer-Cruiser class.

In Performance Cruising, Puerto Rico’s Bernardo Gonzalez’ Beneteau First 35, Bonne Chance, is first with St. Croix’s Tony Sanpere’s J/36, Cayennita Grande, second.

Puerto Rico’s Dwight Rodriguez’s Beneteau First 38S5, Toda Via, topped the Jib & Main Class.

Finally, in the IC24 Class, Puerto Rico’s Fraito Lugo’s Orion leads over fellow islander, Carlos Sierra, on Fuakata.

The big attraction of the 2011 Cape Air C.O.R.C. is the opportunity to win a round-trip ticket for one to anywhere in the Caribbean Cape Air flies in a raffle drawing for Cape Air C.O.R.C. entrants at the Awards Ceremony held at the conclusion of each leg of the Series. Cayennita Grande’s Sanpere won this ticket in Puerto Rico.

In addition, at the Cape Air C.O.R.C.’s fourth and final leg at the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival, set for March 28 to April 3, first place winners in each Cape Air C.O.R.C. class will receive a round-trip ticket for one to anywhere in the Caribbean Cape Air flies.

New this year, the International Rolex Regatta, March 25 to 27, will be the third leg of the Cape Air C.O.R.C.

Yachts must participate in at least three regattas – one in the U.S. Virgin Islands, one in Puerto Rico and one in the BVI – to be eligible for raffle drawings and prizes. Yachts that compete in all four Cape Air C.O.R.C. regattas will receive foul weather gear.
