On Yer Bike!
St. Maarten – Island Water World have come up with a great way for visitors to beat the island's traffic jungle while shopping or doing a little sight seeing – courtesy bikes! When you visit Island Water World's Cole Bay store, tell one of the assistants that you would like to use one of the bicycles. In turn, you'll be asked for a $50 refundable deposit, given a key, and away you go. Company Managing Director Sean Kennelly, the man behind the scheme, said that as long as the customer returns the bicycle, or at least most of it, they will get their deposit back.
It seems that the scheme is really catching on and Island Water World has had requests from local marinas for some of the courtesy bikes to be based at their facilities.
