Puerto Rico’s Efrain “Fraito” Lugo and his all-star crew will be back to defend their champion title at the 2nd Annual North Sails IC24 Regatta set for November 13-14, out of the St. Thomas Yacht Club. Joining Lugo in the race for the top of the leader board will be other hot Caribbean sailors such as Frits Bus of St. Maarten, Michael Green of St. Lucia, and Antonio Mari, Jr., from Puerto Rico.

Since last year’s inaugural event, Tortola sailors have been converting a fleet of IC24s and they will bring five to the regatta. This means that the number of boats available in this year’s regatta will be 14 strong, thus allowing up to 28 teams to compete.

Along with boats, ace BVI sailors expected to compete are Chris Haycraft, Robbie Hirst, Andrew Waters, Mike Masters and Mark Plaxton.

On the home front, USVI skippers ready to compete include Frank Barnes, Chris Curreri, John Holmberg, Geoff Miles, Nick Bailey, Theresa Roberts, Chris Rosenberg, Paul Stoeken and Mike Williams.

Regatta events kick-off Friday November 12th with late registration from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, followed by a Skipper’s Briefing from 6:30 pm to 7 pm and Welcome Party to follow.

Racing will start at 9 am on Saturday November 13. Teams will race in two sets of round robin eliminations.

Awards will be presented after the racing on Sunday. The First Place trophy for the Gold Fleet will be a new set of North IC24 Class legal sails.

Entry fee for the regatta is $200.00US per team after September 27th. To enter, send entry registration forms to Jennie Smith at jenniemarie73@hotmail.com, Tel/Fax: 340-777-8182, or mail to 9800 Buccaneer Mall, #36, St. Thomas, VI 00802.
